The bugbear for day 10. Better, but still not thrilled with the leg positioning. Used brush pens because he is hairy and it made sense. Gave him a rougher look.

Monster Drawing Club 9
A mermaid for Monster drawing club. I didn’t make her all that monstrous, but I did at least try to correct the hands. They should be webbed for an aquatic creature. Went with color because why not?
Monster Drawing Club 8
A brute for the monster drawing club. Made him hulking because… he is supposed to be a brute. Very static. Lacks any dynamic movement.
Monster Drawing Club 7
La Llorona (a ghost) for Monster Drawing club. I used some gel pens I had recently acquired because I wanted it to look ethereal, instead it came out pastel, like the outlines of a Lisa Frank Trapper Keeper or something. Always next time. Still learning.
Monster Drawing Club 6
A beholder, which they were calling a watcher for copyright reasons. Non photo blue with prismacolor colored pencils, with a Sharpie fine point and brush pen layered over. Not thrilled with how I shaped this one. It is pretty flat looking, and should appear more rounded.
Monster Drawing Club 5
You can see more of the rough lines on this one, likely because I got lazy and didn’t attempt to erase them. I wanted the lich to be holding his phylactery, as that is an important part of lichdom, and separates them from other types of undead. Sharpie fine again for details. I was still searching for a better method of shading at this point.
Monster Drawing Club 4
The wyrm. I switched to using Sharpie fine pens for this one, as I didn’t feel I could get enough detail with the brush. I am glad I did, as the teeth and claws turned out much better. Roughs were done in non photo blue and I laid pen over top of that to finish the piece. I needed a better method for shading, however.

The troll. Used a brush pen again. I wanted him to have a Conan type of vibe, brooding on a throne. Some technique was starting to come back, but I still was not happy with the amount of control I had over fine details.

The weird salamander. Was getting my drawing legs back here. Wanted to get these roughed quickly and filled in with pens. Worked with a brush pen, which was great for larger areas, but blurred out the fine details, like teeth and the frills. I learned a bunch.
